Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ

English: Note: I rewrote a lot of this translation for the usual reason: it was uncolloquial to the point of being comic, which is NOT the intent of the poem. The line that begins “I’m fed up” is still very awkward, I know. I spent a frustrating 45 minutes on that line, and that’s the closest to the Japanese I could get it. As previously stated, I’m not a professional translator.

Jesus Christ

Connecting by way of love
I will kill you with emotions
Do you remember the days when you could laugh freely?

Impending madness, the garden of terror
In short, “there” is outside the cell
I am gradually growing accustomed to it, but when will the scar fade?

Human-hunt with a bat
Come play with me some more

I’m fed up with the fact that you bless the prevailing view just for consistency’s sake

The unhappiness you can put aside
Is no different from the forced implication shown there
Am I smiling satisfactorily in the midst of your society?

Who is more miserable?
I guess you all are more serious about it…

If you get more hurt, more ragged and more broken, I bet you can smile again and again

Surely someday a cry of grief will lead you all to god
